This white wine of the verdejo varietal comes from a superb vineyard planted in 1936 in Nava del Rey, Valladolid. The must is fermented in new French oak barrels, where the wine is later kept on fine lees for around six months.
Production is limited to 5,500 bottles.
Viticulture The grapes come from our Corderilla, Carravalcavado 2 and Carraboada 2 estates, with yields of 3,000-5,000 kg/ha. Loess Collection is made with grapes selected based on their analytical parameters and by tasting the fruit so as to carefully determine the perfect time to harvest and, as a result, obtain the star of our winery.
Harvesting and wine-making The initial selection of grapes is made during the harvest and the fruit is transported in boxes of, at most, 20kg, to the winery, where a second selection is made prior to being placed into barrels.
The destemmed grapes are macerated in 500-litre French oak barrels, with the lids removed. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in these same barrels, at a temperature of less than 28°C.
The wine’s malolactic fermentation also takes place in these barrels.
Aging In November/December, the wine is transferred to other new French oak barrels, where it will remain for between 24 and 30 months.
Around 5,000 bottles are produced annually and the wine is sold from its third year onwards.
